I’m Laine Bodnar (née Jaremey), a communications professional with ten years of experience in the public relations industry. As I was beginning my career as a communications professional years ago, I kept a mantra in mind: “you are your own biggest advocate.” I focused on honing my professional skills to continually improve how I presented myself – both in person and on paper – throughout my career.
But, of course, it didn’t stop there. My career is ever-evolving. I’ve been fortunate to work with teams that allow me to always learn and take advantage of new opportunities, so that I can continue grow in my role as a communications professional.

I started Pencil Skirts & Punctuation as an opportunity to share my professional (and sometimes personal) knowledge and experience, engage in discussions and answer questions. I continue to have a passion for career development and I’m have often been approached by friends, family and colleagues – and now, the online community – with questions about job and career searches, resumes, cover letters and the like.
